Congrats on your engagement! What to do next?!

Woohoo! I am so excited for you! This is probably a moment you have been waiting for and may already have a pinterest board called “Dream Wedding.” And you totes deserve to make every pin come to life. There is a way to go about this in an organized fashion and I am here to start you off in the right direction.

First, narrow down the theme or the setting. Do you imagine dancing with the love of your life in a country barn in cowgirl boots, or under the stars in a whimsical woodland scene, or with your toes wiggling in the sand at your no-shoes required beach extravaganza?

Second, who is invited? Are you that popular couple with tons of family and friends or would you prefer a more intimate gathering with just your closest friends and family? Draft a guest list but don’t worry about the seating arrangement just yet.  This will be helpful when choosing which venues to walk through as some venues have limited capacity.

Lastly, sit down with your lovebird and discuss the budget. Is your budget in line with your dream wedding?! If your budget spews over a tad, identify your 'splurge' item. For me, the one thing I really wanted to spend on was photography. For stunning images and gorgeous photography, check out my colleagues page Crystal-Nicole Photography. Photography is one of thee most important vendors selected for your special day. The person responsible for capturing this spectacular day should be a spectacular photographer. For more budget advice and a free budget tracker visit here.

Just a little planning tip: the biggest portion of your budget goes primarily to the venue and catering. I am a big fan of choosing dramatic venues with stunning architecture because the grounds typically require less décor, which means less out-of-pocket décor costs for you and gorgeous photos. Second most expensive item on the wedding planning to-do list is the food and beverage. I am all about the assorted cheeses and mini hors d’oeuvres, the custom beverages designed by the likes of the bride and groom, the fresh kale salad, the delectable main course and individually served decadent desserts. Virginia Wolf says, “One cannot think well, love well, sleep well, if one has not dined well.”

Happy Planning, lovely couples. I wish you the best on this super exciting journey. Wedding Planning is a joyful experience. If ever you are feeling overwhelmed, feel free to send me a note. I will be more that happy to provide consultations or e-guidance.

Love, Michelle
